Duties, Responsibilities, Remuneration
- Assistance with setting up baseline surveys and implementation of programmes for biodiversity monitoring.
- Conservation and rehabilitation for the terrestrial and associated marine ecosystems of the island.
- Education of visitors and residents as to their value and protect these ecosystems.
- Assistance in the implementation conservation Management plan for the island.
- Ensuring that all Seychelles conservation legislation is complied with and anti-poaching measures are implemented.
- Skipper boats as and when required.

Remuneration
- The position is for a two-year contract with a remuneration of R153,000 per annum, annual salary review and subject to usual statutory deductions.
- Board and accommodation are provided free of charge.
Requirements
- Must be a holder of a Post-Secondary Level Education.
- Experience in boat handling and outboard engines.
- Knowledge and experience in the conservation field.
- Diving certificate will be a plus.
Other considerations:
The ideal candidate will be able to physically and mentally cope with the rigours of working in a remote location. Applicants should also have good awareness of safety issues and be comfortable living and working in small team with other people from a range of cultures. The successful applicant will be resilient, self-motivated, and be able to get along with other team members. However, while living and working on a remote island is intense, the island provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the continued conservation and continuation of rare and endemic species most of which would otherwise have been forever lost to humanity. It provides an opportunity to push back unfettered and destructive human development at the expense of biodiversity. It is hard but rewarding work.
